twit

FionnTimes says that I can't avoid Twitter and that 'within months' I'll be all over that shit.

I already joined and unjoined ages ago because I didn't see the benefits of it, why I should constantly update people on what I'm doing when I have a blog and a very busy Facebook status update?

So, Twitter, why should I, and why shouldn't I?

PS: did you know that Jane McGinty was on Twitter? She's right here.

I'm inclined to agree with FionnTimes - you'll have to succumb eventually!

One very handy thing about it - you can automatically link it to your facebook profile so that it updates your status, essentially widening the reach of your status updates outside facebook (if you want that, natch...).

Also, you can then plugin your twitter updates to your blog, so your updates would appear on facebook, twitter and your blog almost simultaneously.

That, and the fact that you get lots of linky goodness from people on twitter.....

It's actually getting pretty addictive. You can use it to automagically update your facebook status too, which is handy.

I use it to ask questions, find answers and recommendations, share links to stuff I don't have time to blog etc etc.

"Facebook is about people you used to know; Twitter is about people you’d like to know better"

I'd love to claim responsibility for that, but can't. Says it all though, really.

You could talk to someone you haven't met yet, as opposed to someone who is your friend on facebook based on the fact you were in school together 10 years ago.

I just followed Jane. I expect great things :)
