Re: Lady Gaga

Aren't her lyrics a bit clichéd?

The album is largely crappy, was just listening to it for work.

'Just Dance' is good, but the rest is mostly totally overproduced and boring.

I think the Observer called here a 'stray pussycat doll', which is pretty accurate.

Fair description.

I think Just Dance is not a bad record, lyrics aside, but the chorus is beyond clichéd at this stage.

'Just Dance' is by far the best track on it. Although mishearing the lyrics on 'Pokerface' and singing "Carrickmines Carrickmines" is the new "Templeogue you're out of your mind."

I heard Pokerface and it's absolutely shit.

Trite lyrics, Carrickmines or otherwise.

I do like Lady Gaga but since a friend alerted me to her back in early June, I've become oddly possessive of her... Last weekend Just Dance played twice (TWICE) in the nightclub and I was seized by a desire to run up to every little knackery whore and scratch her eyeballs out 'cos I HEARD HER FIIIIIRST!

(I'm putting it down to the fact that it's Listowel with its one shitty nightclub and even shittier DJ who never plays anything decent. I don't know...)

BUT UNA, I do think more than Just Dance and Pokerface are worth a download.

I was disappointed in the album. It's far FAR to glossy, and has absolutely none of the edge Gaga claims she's all about.

I love the synth on Just Dance, but there's nothing original on the record.

My review is here: http://www.tribune.ie/arts/music/article/2009/jan/18/rock-and-pop-lady-gaga/

I can't get into the new Bronx album. It's got some good tunes but it just doesn't make my ears bleed like I and (especially) II did.

@ dave- i loved their first record, havent listened to this enough to judge the whole thing, but it doesnt seem to have the immediate impact of their previous stuff.

@Dave and Una - Really? I think that new Bronx record is AWESOME.. Young Bloods is as good a modern rock song as you'll hear imo.
Ok, maybe it's not as visceral as when they started out, but, you know, they're all old and growing up n stuff.. we can't expect guys in their late 20s with a successful career to be the pinnacle of rage and aggression, it just don't work like that..
I suggest we all work dilligently to find the next great angry rock band.. they're probably to be found somewhere in San Diego..
