I'm going to do a 2008 round-up now because everyone else is

Stuff that happened:
I got to be a Choice Music Prize judge, assassinated Rick after he won a blog award, turned a quarter of a century, met Leisha Hailey, started SoundCheck, attended two weddings; one a three day muslim affair in Malaysia, the other a London bash, learned to scuba dive, went to Glasto for the first time, won my first Make & Do, started writing a book, performed the perfect crowd surf in Whelan's, took over a radio show on Phantom for a week, sung backing vocals for The Radio at Electric Picnic, started DJing, got a new nephew, and generally worked by ass off.

Places I went:
Trinidad & Tobago:
bizarre carnival antics. And rum. Lots of rum.

Borneo: I don't think I'll ever forget diving off Sipadan; giant clams, a turtle swimming into my face, a cyclone formation of barracuda, a giant gray shark that nearly made me pee my pants, the crazy trigger fish, white tip reef sharks, endless starfish. And then coming in in the evening to a tiny island and chilling with a G&T. Amazing experience.

Barcelona: With Super Extra Bonus Party, which saw the birth of bandyfood.

Birmingham, Wales, Carlisle: With Fight Like Apes. Serious funtimes, where I developed an addiction to truckstop arcade games.

Glasto: with Neilsies and other amazing people (Fiona, Caoimhe, Nial and Emma Sommers Sommers Sommers, Barry Du Monde.) We found ourselves camped next to Arctic Monkeys, saw some of the best gigs of this year, and generally wrecked the gaff. From what I remember.

London: I was going out with a brilliant, amazing, beautiful (London-based) legend for most of 2008 who I miss loads. As a result, I got to know the city really well. I kind of miss popping over every other weekend; shopping, chilling the max in the east London massive, and of course, the most amazing kebab shop ever in Dalston. I do not, however, miss Heathrow.

Paris: for one night of food, shopping, booze, strolls and general laughs for Dee's birthday. And my first time on the amazingness that is the Eurostar train.

Cote d'Azur: where we stayed in an amazing treehouse.

Rafelguaraf: tiny village near Valencia where we happened to land in the middle of an endless fiesta, which was awesome.

New York: for Obama-Hallowe'en-Marathon fun. FionnTimes, Piedhg and Paul and I relocated to a gaff in Brooklyn, boozed around town, saw Hercules & Love Affair, James Murphy and Justice perform within a week. Watched Obama become the next president on giant screens in Times Square and had a few epic Hallowe'en moments.

But what really made 2008? The same thing that makes every year; love, friends, music, health and fun times.

Lili's round-up, FionnTimes' round-up, Mulley's 'Dear 2008', things that are now 20 years old.

I recall being barricaded in a wigwam with a bunch of sound engineers, some bands and their birds for that storm.
