Just picked up the press releases from the launch there, and nominated for Best International Live Performance? It's The Killers @ Oxegen!Remember that gig? That was fucking deadly, it was awes... oh yeah, the Killers didn't play Oxegen last year.
Oopsies.
*update*
I actually think there might be ANOTHER mistake in the Meteor Awards nominations.
The Coronas are nominated for Best Irish Live Performance @ the Button Factory, but the only record I can find of them playing there recently were two sold out shows they did in December 2007. Their two big shows in 2008 were @ the Ambassador in March and the Olympia in December.
Am I wrong? If so, I stand corrected - if anyone was at a Coronas gig in the Button Factory in 08, please let us know!
*another update*
"Best Live Performance" - To qualify the nominee must have performed a live concert in Ireland between 1st November 2007 and the 31st December 2008 - The Coronas gigs @ the Button Factory qualify as a result. Best of luck, lads!

ROFL. I heard Pink Flyod played an amazing set as well.
Cue hysterical high pitched exclamation laugh.
Jesus. Blush City.
God forbid anyone should be wrong while the internet is still standing.
Check their conditions - apparently 2008 started on November 1, 2007 and finished on December 31, 2008...
Ruth, you're right, the Coronas @ the Button Factory qualifies as a result.
A well respected and all inclusive awards like the meteors couldn't possibly make a mistake, are you sure the killers didn't play a private gig in the uber-VIP area at oxegen.
una - think i may have found another meteor muddle
Rhianna is nominated for Best International Female but her current album "Good Girl Gone Bad" was released back in June 2007, well outside the Nov 2007 cut-off.
Man, I haven't has as much fun since Babs came to town
Jim - just checked that there, and you're dead right. Rihanna doesn't qualify for nomination under the Meteor Awards' own terms and conditions.
Comment number 1 applies again
I am amazed that neither the two professional journalists posting here bothered their asses to ring Meteor or MCD and clarify the situation? The press release I have has two numbers on it.
People f**k up and neither MCD or Meteor are above that.
I am just amazed that both this blog and on the record so this as a story and made a big song and dance about what was essentially a typo. It's hard to believe that you could have run with this? A phone call would have clarifed the glaring mistake, and the rules. Then again blogs aren't known for their reliability and don't have to do any fact finding
