Just reading the numbers there in your article. If the total payout to Mattel is $100m but the brand is worth billions, surely there's still ample room for the line to continue?
Or does the ruling essentially bar the makers from making any more?
as far as I know, there's still more stuff to be worked out in court next year, but I don't think they'll be continuing the line.
From what I hear, it's fairly likely that Mattel will come to an arrangement with them to allow them to continue, or that Mattel could take ownership of the brand and produce the dolls themselves.
Either way, it's a lucrative brand worth an obscene amount of money, meaning it's unlikely to bite the dust completely.
Pretty pissed off yesterday when I brought my daughter to Santa and the present she got was a rip-off Bratz doll, considering we have been actively avoiding those dolls.
