assorted bits and boobs

The Breeders was fun last night. Went for tapas in Pintxos with Sarah, Dee Dee and Derek first. Mmmmmmm, chorizo. Want some right now.

I was surprised at how short the gig was. I was waiting for them to come back on, and they never did. Crysies. It was interesting too soundwise because I go to see so many 'new' bands these days that having that 90s sound blasted at you in a geniune, not a referential manner is oddly refreshing. It was basically a Tribune/Phantom staff party really; Neilsies, Edel of the Coffeys, Nadine, Oli and various others were all in attendance. Big up to Peter for the blag. You rock.

There are some good gigs on this week. Shall hopefully be hitting Holy Fuck at Whelan's on Thursday. M.A.N.D.Y. is at Spy on Friday. On Saturday, The Boners are at Whelans, The Ting Tings are at the Village and Simian Mobile Disco are at Spy. Of course, also on Saturday, The Streets and Mix Master Mike are playing FOR FREE on George's Dock. (A lot of these gigs are Bud Rising ones, hence the density this weekend.) On Sunday, Future of the Left and Fight Like Apes play the Village. It's an odd headliner that one. You would imagine the latter deserves to headline rather than FOTL. Surely the Apes are more popular here than those Cardiff sorts? Trentemoller is at Tripod on Sunday too.

So, that's a fair whack out of your wallet right thurrr, if you want to have a musical weekend. I'm going to miss the weekend gigs though because I shall be in London town.
