I wonder if the Obama campaign have Josh and Donna characters??

Sorry I missed you at the awards, you were on my "to meet" list but alcohol took over and the list got lost along the way. Maybe next year!

The Guardian did a story on this just over a week ago and while I had noticed the similarities between real life and the storyline it was only when I read the article that I realised that Santos was based on Obama.

The worrying thing for Obama is that Santos was meant to lose the election in the West Wing. It was only after a last minute change to the script following the death of John Spencer (it was felt having Santos lose both his running partner (leo - played by Spencer) and the election would be too much) that the plot was changed.

That's because the West Wing is genius.

I've been addicted to the West Wing ever since my brother the box set of all 7 seasons a couple months ago, having seen it intermittently back when it was on TV. Haven't got to this season yet, but it could be a bit boring when I do, if the same storyline is playing out in the newspapers at the same time.

I haven't seen the last season of the West Wing yet, and I am just now getting to it having decided to start again at the beginning, I now know that Santos wins and Leo dies, total spoiler alert needed here:-(

@Sarah - crysies about the spoiler! I watched the DVDs from beginning to end last year, and somehow managed to get through them all without finding out.

Ms Rocks, you should strap a big warning at the top of this!

Cheers Una, for strapping on the Spoiler alert ;-)

Ah, really sorry about that Sarah. I just kinda assumed that everyone who was going to watch the west wing had done so by now. Plus in my defence it did say who wins the election in the video.

It might be an idea to delete my comment just to avoid ruining it for others.

Again, sorry

It's cool, I would have stumbled on it somewhere, and it's so well written that I'm really enjoying it anyway. Sure I've already seen the first 5 seasons and watching them again, it's amazing how fresh it all is and how much I'd forgotten!
