Thoughts on the new gaff (so far)

- Didn't realise how much I would miss Chicken Hut on Clanbrassil Street (crysies)

- People who work in the IFSC look sad in the morning

- Tiger and I couldn't help but throw around some 'Big Bow Wow' quotes when we bumped into each other in the IFSC yesterday; I was running back to the office from Phantom, he was jogging.

- Is it really necessary to encase the entire contents of an off-license in glass? (Booze2Go, Amiens Street)

- Heroin never goes out of fashion, clearly

- Lots of floor to ceiling windows may look pretty, but they also mean it's fucking freezing in the morning

That's hilarious...I spent my first night in my new gaff last night too and had the whole "these floor to ceiling windows are NOT as great as they appear" conversation with myself as I hopped around in the freezing cold this morning...I also managed to be 10 minutes late for work even though I now live 5 minutes walk from work.

Other problems with my new window-full apartment (aka, the Glass Case Of Emotion) is that I accidently flashed the builders across the way TWICE yesterday.

Made sure the blinds were closed this morning: Clever Una.

Ahahahaa! I must also remember that important drawing-the-blind trick, considering there is a possibility of flashing the four courts from where I am. And everyone on the quays - we're talking three bridges.

Unless I'm feeling particularly bored.

next week Lili! I still haven't unpacked anything and my room is just a giant mass of black bags and books.

Will we go for a drinky tomorrow night?

There's just something fundamentally *wrong* about those Booze2Go yokes, eh?

UnaRocks said...

yeah, they're weird alright. I was only in one for the first time the other night. The set up is kind of like a needle exchange for Jacob's Creek or something.

maybe the peeps in the IFSC are happy on the inside but just look sad on the outside.

Don't you mean Château d'Yquem?!

Yeah, saw the pictures on Flickr when I got in this morning.

Nay - not for €10.99!

@Anon: maybe. They're fuckin rich on the inside anyway, at least.

CW: har har!

Ohh, I dunno...isn't gear dearer than gold? Anyway when it comes to booze vs shoes anyone who spends €140 on the latest Air Max would defo have their substantial priorities right...

First night in my new gaff, I had to call the police because there were loads of Turkish guys having a knife fight outside my bedroom window. Just sayin'.

UnaRocks said...

stop pretending you didn't start the fight Dee, you hooligan.

Dee said...

Ok, it's true. I started it by having a tantrum that I didn't have floor to ceiling windows, and, um, things got messy.

Flashing the builders sounds like fun , i might try that.

Of COURSE people who work in the IFSC look sad; wouldn't you if you lived there? :)

Also, I fail to see what was so very wrong with D8; I quite like it myself.

"Of COURSE people who work in the IFSC look sad; wouldn't you if you lived there?" - they obviously haven't tried the Long Island Ice Teas in Laguna bar. The cause and solution to all of their problems.

There's nothing wrong with D8, except that now I've moved, D1 is clearly more awesome ;)

You miss Chicken Hut?? Didn't you see Jamie Oliver's programme on mistreated chicken, especially fast food chicken?? :P

UnaRocks said...

Jamie Oliver wrecks my head.

Chicken Hut is halal though, would that make a difference to the little chickens?

I don't mind eating chickens. I do feel guilty for eating pork though because piggies are smart :(

You should educate yourself about how chickens are reared. If you must eat chickens (intelligent or not, what gives you the right to take a life when we don't need to eat animals to survive?), you have to do it organic and free-range. Cheap chickens are evil. If your chicken costs less than a tenner, you're causing cruelty.

Educate yourself before you kill anything else, please.

UnaRocks said...

I have never killed a chicken.

Militant vegetarians make me lol. Chicken is yummy.

Very clever. You have been directly responsible for the deaths of several chickens, how's that?

"Militant vegetarians make me lol. Chicken is yummy."

Who says I'm a vegetarian? Organic chicken is much yummier.

Also, halal involves bleeding the animal to death, a slow and painful process, so yeah, you're causing more harm there.

UnaRocks said...

but the chickens are already dead when I eat them. It's not like I'm picking out a fucking lobster.

I don't really cook that much at home, but if I'm buying food for cooking, I do tend to go for organic / free range / fair trade food options when available.

That's just insane logic. If less people - and you are a person, despite the fact you seem to think you exist in some sort of consequence-free nirvana - bought cruel meat, less of it would be produced. It's literally as easy as 1,2,3, it's basic economics.

Besides, the real problem is your own conscience. If you can live with causing unecessary suffering even though you know there is an alternative, you go right ahead. Only you have to live in your head!

Some of my best friends are chickens.

listen man, I'm playin. I care about chickens, sure I do, but they're not a very high priority for me to be perfectly honest.

I'll care about them on a higher care-level when all of the other shit I care about more gets sorted out.

(I actually can't believe I'm talking about this. Comment facilities are strange beasts.)

Okay, I appreciate that most people won't spend most of their day thinking about chickens. They're not that interesting. But your argument is a bit like me saying that I beat my wife every day but because there are people starving in Africa, it's not my top priority, so I'm going to wait until they cure cancer before I stop beating my wife. Cruelty is cruelty is cruelty - now is always the best time to stop perpetrating it.

"I'll care about them on a higher care-level when all of the other shit I care about more gets sorted out."

Also, what do you care about more. Particularly, what effort is required from you in order that you don't eat cruel chicken?
