*The push to get more than ten people to turn up at Music Ireland continues, with the line-up now including "the multi-talented Brian Kennedy."
*Feature on Tipperary Motor Speedway. Va-va-fuck-off.
*Glenda Gilson stars in a one page article about herself where she is photographed hugging a guitar and opening a tin of beans with a hammer and chisel: "I used to buy a lot of CDs but I stopped that when the iPod thing came along."
*UnaRocks reader Olaf Tyaransen asks Mischa Barton if she's a Catholic. She is. That's that cleared up then.
*Anne Sexton offers a guide on how to achieve "sweet tasting spunk". Thanks Anne! Want to go for a drink some time?
*Paul Walsh from Royseven models his skinny jeans and high-tops. Swoon.
*Music Ireland @ the RDS is the top gig in the top ten gigs of the coming weeks. Apparently.
*Aslan's new album gets eight out of ten.
*Dickie Rock reviews this week's singles. On Craig David's 'Hot Stuff', he says, "I love the rhythm, he's a great singer."
*A four-page interview with Eamon Gilmore is accompanied by a prominant picture of Bruce Springsteen.
*There are a few words stuck in the middle of one page about Hard Working Class Heroes, the most important festival for unsigned Irish acts. Who cares!
Saving grace: Peter Murphy's interview with Dave Grohl.
Unfortunately, I have made none of this up.

hahaha. "It's got a great beat"
classic stuff there una.....great post.
Una, don't subject yourself to this on our behalf - the guilt is unbearable!
Couldn't have said it better about the Tipperary speedway yoke. Jesus wept.
Anne Sexton can fuck off an' all.
I was already sold at sweet tasting spunk but for the music-clueless in the audience (Hold on, why am I reading this blog again?), the Craig David thing is funny because the song samples the shit out of some classic song or something right?
Can u do this every fortnight?
I never start what I can't finish.
Apart from sometimes, oysters.
Anne Sexton could probably give you some tips on swallowing them.
but can she make them taste sweet?
excellent una!
very funny... well done.
Haven't read the speedway piece but I was down there two weeks ago. Apparently he guy trying to close it down isn't even around when they have racing, moany git!
We have few enough motor racing tracks as it is. Closing Tipp could seriously harm Drifting in Ireland, which would be unforunate given we're European leaders in the field.
Four parts Eamon Gilmore to one part Glenda Gilsen - we have finally isolated the formula for the uniquely shite erssence of Hot Press.
By the way, was it not your own paper that recently gave Niall Stokes a platform to tell us how brilliant the Irish music industry is? (At least I think thats what he was saying. I didn't read it, obv.) You should have threatened industrial action over that.

Hmm, I have no recollection of this. Although, we did do a Stokesy thing a while ago when Hotpress turned 25 or 20 or 90 or something. Don't remember.
My mate once got a letter published in Hot Press. I remember meeting him in town for a bite of lunch. He could bearly contain his excitement when I met him... He thrust the magazine in my face, open on his letter. He eagerly waited for my reaction.
I slapped him across the head... Warranted? I think so.
P.S. Thank you for taking that (hilarious) bullet... Nobody should be subjected to an entire issue!
ouch !
I'll take odds on Una winning a catfight with Ann Sexton !
... anyone ?
Anne Sexton, how pointless. Hot Press are just money hungry has beens. Its astonishing how much anger they stir up in people! Their circulation is less than Womans Way- and that has a knitting pattern. Nialler9 gets more hits than hotpress.com!!
Va-va fuck you. Some stuck-up serial objector trying to close down a facility that provides weekend recreation for hundreds of young people from all over the country - it's a story that needs to be told.
I did not realise people felt this way about HotPress

fair enough, I'm just questioning its place in a music magazine.
In fairness HP doesn't and never has claimed to be exclusively a music magazine. Whether that's a good thing or not is another debate.
This has made me smile broadest on World Smile Day.
their HWCH coverage was/is nothing short of appalling
actually fuck it - the entire magazine is shit...

i doubt you'll hear many good things about hot press from localised muso's - however it's deadly if you missed your last fix of glen retard (sic)
what is worst about hot press is how it's this circle of self congratulation.
Ouch. Brilliantly caustic. But part of me gets all defensive when someone criticise HP. It is the romantic in me.
Although in the last edition I read had Niall Stokes' editorial about the "insidious and perversive role of the Catholic Church in Irish society". I couldn't help smile at the misguided sincerity.
Paige
It may kill children to read, but it kept my arse nice and dry on a wet bench the other night.
Ronan - do you miss working for Hotpress? Even sometimes?
I've said it before and i'l lsay it again..

I found this by googling "hot press" "is shit". Made my day.
