Well, that was a fun weekened. We didn't pitch our tent until 2.15 on Saturday morning because of traffic and confusion of where we were actually camping (we ended up in a little enclave in the boutique camping village which was cool.)
Saturday, myself and Corina and Lili were running around like mentalists working, so the first act we got to see was M.I.A. I think. She was amazing, such amazing presence and the stuff from the new record - $20, Bamboo Banga especially - was awesome.
After that, myself YoCo and Lili ended up in the little garden place at the back of the Bacardi tent where we hung out with these three DJs from London (Sauce, and Men in Masks or something). They were so much fun and we drank loads of cocktails and held a danceoff before adjourning to the Southern Comfort tent for more yummy cocktails.
Beastie Boys was one of the most amazing gigs I've been at this year and beyond. We got to watch them from the side of the stage, which was brilliant. Jarvis Cocker was standing behind me the whole time and I was trying to be all cool and collected which lasted about half an hour until I turned into a tipsy eejit and passed him a note saying how much I loved his music and to read Jenna's blog. He was really nice though. Go Jarvis!
Walking through the crowd at Chemical Brothers was mad. I have never seen so many people doing so many drugs in my life. It was pretty scary. The visuals looked awesome, but we couldn't really handle the atmosphere, so we hung out at the press area for a bit, caught up with Nial Delo and a few other people until going to the Next Stage to see our new DJ buddies play. It was so much fun and we were all pretty bleedin wrecked by the time we got back to the tent.
Sunday morning was Fight Like Apes time. They got a really big crowd, around 800 people I'd say, which must be pretty scary and the sound was quite dodgy at times, but it was still a fun gig - 'Jake Summers' and 'Battlestations' were both great.
Then we went to Bat For Lashes which was really cool. It began PISSING rain though so the tent got packed. After that, me and Julie went to see Rilo Kiley - AMAZING. So tight, can't wait to see them when they come back before the end of the year.
Iggy Pop was so awesome. He brought about 100 people up on stage and one dude was just running around naked. Quite amusing. Primal Scream were boring though. YoCo and Lili went home and me and Neil and Julie just hung out for a while. It all went a bit mental when Julie found this giant fluffy dog teddy bear, but we were too wrecked to go to the rave in Tir na Gasta, so we headed to tentville pretty early.
So, there ya go. There was loads of other stuff too: Big Wheel almost pukage, YoCo having a panic attack on the Helter Skelter slide, an oxygen bar reviving us, tent hilarity, the catchphrase of the weekend being "the size of a HUMAN", nachos, far too much vodka, and general revelry.
Bumped into a million people: big ups to Ragin Spice, Joycer, Monica, Jim Carroll, Nialler9, Dan (sorry for not making ANY sense when I met you), Aoife Mc, Burco, Crimbo, Evan, Orla, Emmmmmily, shout out to Adrian who I was chatting to outside Architecture for Helsinki - you rock!, Quigo, Ado MeNoFemBo who is finally back from Barca, Hugh, Angela Dorgan, Ro Delo, Thinkhouse homies, Sarah Retro, Derek and the Phantom crew, Larissa, Jennifer Anthem, Karen Star and whoever else we hung out with. Also, major big ups to Mr Dunphy for the transport.
I have no photees because my camera was fucked for the weekend, but Lili and YoCo and Julie assure me they'll send me theirs so I can post them. That will happen soon.
So, how was your picnic?

Rilo Kiley were awesome alright.
I had a brilliant time, can't say I thought much of The Beasties but I thought Jarvis was pretty illin'
Nice crowd (though there were a few scary people around)
The Line up was pretty good in the end, the main stage being the least interesting I think.
You could have tapped me for the best route in, I do a good line in traffic (or to put it better, avoiding the line)
Only complaint is that it could have been a week long there was so much going on.....
somedaysneverend is my next BIG LOOK FORWARD.
Mass with the Warlords of Pez on Sunday. Hymn booklets, blessing of the buckfast and the entire Crawdaddy tent on their knees. Wow!
Cheers Una,
It was great to meet you. What a weekend!!!1
Highlights for me were; LCD soundsystem ( once I heard "all my friends", I could of went home), Go Team!!, the good shoes, 65 days of static and super extra bonus party.
And the bodytonic party on Monday morning, great tunes.
Adrian
