Who the hell is going to Slane?

3.30 – Frankie Gavin
4.30 – Tinariwen
5.45 – The Hold Steady
7 – The Charlatans
8 – The Rolling Stones

I mean, really, who would go to this gig? I just don't get it. I presume it hasn't sold out (ticket-wise). Slane is so over man. Bring back Eminem!

Saw the stones in the Point a couple of years ago. Amazing show. More of a cultural event seeing such an iconic band. Not sure I'd go to Slane though, unless I was choppered in.

I'd prefer to see the Hold steady in some dingy bar.

I'm going just for the Stones...still haven't seen them live!

By the way...I have have 4 'very posh' seating tickets...right up the front! Anyone want to swap them for low-life common-as-muck standing tickets?

I know where I belong in life!

I'm kinda pissed that if I want to see the Hold Steady again I'll have to go to this or down to Limerick.

I don't think it could top the TBMC gig though.

On the subject of gigs, I don't know if I've got the scoop but I've got he details of the AF gig in the park on my blog.

Nice one Ian.

Never was a big Stones fan, Brian. Don't really like The Beatles either to be honest.

It's the Zep or nothing for me.

Una, I'm with you on this one.

The Stones are ancient and haven't released a relevant album in over 30 years. If I want nostalgia that badly, I'll just throw on Forty Licks Disc 1...

They don't need the money, and I don't need to go to Meath.

Speaking of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess once called me a cunt at Witnness. Why? I called him Danny from Embrace. I deserved it.

I'd jump the ditch to see Tinariwen alone. I went all the way to the GOD DAMN SAHARA DESERT to see them and they didn't show at the festival.

And Ali Farka Toure stayed at home because he was sick. Hung out with a bunch of nomads and their camels. Still the stand-out festival of my short existence.

Stones, Charlatans - massive bonus.

Early Stones, Late Beatles for me.

The Stones are best listened to in a Best Of Capacity ala Forty Licks and I assume this is the material they cover on Stage, guess it's worth going to see them live once, but I just don't think I could drag myself to Slane, even if i had a posh seat.

I'd go, just in case Keith Richards finally collapsed into a pile of dust. Its bound to happen at some stage, and I'd like to be able to tell people I was there.
