"Electric Picnic is introducing the most ecologically-sound cup system available at the bars this year. The system replaces pint-sized plastic or paper cups with polypropylene hard plastic cups which can be used over 100 times before being fully recycled. Compared to alternative cups which are produced then disposed or recycled after one use, Eco Cups offer the minimum impact on the environment.
Customers purchasing a half-litre sized drink at any of the bars pay a €3 deposit for the Eco-Cup on top of the drink cost for only their first drink
When buying further drinks the customer exchanges their old cup for a new one at no extra cost
At the end of the night people have a choice of either a full refund or taking the cup home with them.
There are a number of special commemorative Electric Picnic pint cups; if you are lucky enough to receive one please feel free to keep it! You can bring it back next year if you wish when we can exchange it for a brand new one!"
(I know it's good for the environment, but wouldn't your fourth or fifth drink taste a bit manky after being poured into the same cup?)

Doesn't work that way I don't think.
Idea is this, try follow, I confuse myself sometimes.
First drink of the day is in Cup 'A'. You pay your 3 quid deposit and off you go.
You come back for another. You hand in Cup 'A' and get a new drink in cup 'B' - no 3 quid this time.
Once you've decided you're done drinking (yeah, sure) you hand in Cup 'ZZZ' or whatever you're on and get your 3 quid back.
Basically it's an ingenious way of selling us all souvenir cups a la Disneyland.
It wouldn't be too manky, relatively speaking. The cups you're describing will be far more bearable than the crap normally doled out at concerts. I was pulling pints at Daft Punk last year and though clean those cups did not look like something I wanted gracing my lips. More durable ones are usually also more bearable so I reckon you'll be fine. Sure it's hardly top notch brew that's going into them in the first place.

You get a fresh one each time.
ooohhhh. So what, they wash them backstage and then reuse them or something? Isn't getting a fresh cup each time the same as getting any kind of normal disposable plastic cup??
*confused*
Festival beer is like piss anyway so it wouldn't even matter if they washed the cups.
Also, what's with the 500ml pint?
That's not a pint!
And what odds on people actually remembering to hold onto their cups and standing in a queue like they were about to receive an insufficent amount of gruel from Mr. Bumble?
what's a pint, 570mls or something?
I WANT MY EXTRA MLS DAMMIT etc.
I can see a lot of €3s being wasted in this way....when you're going nuts in a tent the last thing you'll want to do is hold onto your empty cup!
If people aren't remembering to bring their cups back, then anyone can just pick up 2 cups and get free beer!
(Assuming 6euro is enough...which may not be a good assumption)
Thats actually a good idea cw - scabbers unite!
yeh they wash them the way they'd wash glasses in a pub. they do that in germania in loads of places and then loads of bums go around picking up cups that people forgot about. i think its a good idea!
That's a great idea. But it might make more sense to use the same cup for refils instead of being handed a new one!
If it's hard plastic I image that you can reuse that one!
A pint is actually 568ml.
Happy Picnic!
It's a great idea! It's getting more european all the time!
A pint is 568ml!
