Please come... PLEASE...

There's a very pleading full page ad in the Ticket in the Irish Times today for Lovebox, 24 hours before the festival begins.

"NO RAIN FORECAST" the ad shrills (actually, it is predicted to piss rain from the only weather site I trust, BBC World Weather)

"TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE GATE" so that plane circling the site at Oxegen advertising Lovebox didn't work then.

"GOURMET FOOD"

"GREAT COCKTAILS" actually the cocktails at Garden Party were yumsies.

On the following pages there are THREE full page ads for MCD gigs @ Marlay Park; Kaiser Chiefs w/ The Fratellis, Ash, The Blizzards and Royseven; Damien Rice w/ KT Tunstall, Guillemots, Willy Mason and Fionn Regan; Foo Fighters w/ Nine Inch Nails and Silversun Pickups. The weather and competition is definitely not a music promoter's friend this summer.

Yeah, noticed the pleading nature of the ad myself. Is festival fatigue starting to set in? There are just far too many festivals crowding the 'summer' months, too much of a good thing and there still loads to come...Kasier Chiefs/Blizzards/Fratellis??..wouldrather eat my own head than go to that....I remember reading somewhere because of plummeting CD sales the money to be made in the music industry now is through live music, hence we have a festival almost every few days...

There are just too many festivals. You can't expect people to go to everything, especially when the line-ups aren't stellar (bar Oxegen) and the weather is shite and they are so expensive compared to other European countries.

"Twenty-four hours and counting so here are the best ways to make it to the first ever LOVEBOX DUBLIN by BACARDI. Latest weather forecast has dry spells for tomorrow afternoon and we have all our crew sun-dancing on site as this is typed."
