Just got the new edition of Hotpress. Why on earth do they feel in neccessary to devote THREE PAGES to what they call "Fear and Loathing in Celbridge: the Barbra Streisand Fiasco" (cringe), and don't even bother to ever refer to any alleged crimes or incidents of violence etc at Oxegen? Who fits the Hotpress demographic more? Middle-aged rich folk trotting off to see memories, or 80,000 yoofs at Oxegen? Both gigs had the same promoter, so...
The mind, it boggles.
Although, any attempt to understand Hotpress as a credible entity should always be avoided, I suppose.

With all the freesheets like the excellent Event Guide, Totally Dublin, The Ticket in the Irish Times and websites like Cluas.com, why do people still buy this rag? And why do they never give bad reviews? What is the point of Anne Sexton??? How the hell does anyone take Olaf T's writing seriously...plus their website is completely shit...
MCD isn't very keen on bad publicity; they have complained about it on boards.ie, for instance, with the result that discussion of MCD events is banned there. The Oxegen bit might have been sufficiently controversial to draw nasty legal letters.
yessssssss.....
But Barb was an MCD gig too....
Anne Sexton stole two thirds of my name and my dream job as a sex columnist. Im out to get her
I'm sorry to say that the person who explained the papers reaction was Twink.
She went with her daughter, and the daughter pointed out that mess and mud are expected at a festival for teenagers, but not for the middle-aged... which was the market for the tickets.
I'm sure there were some youngish people there, but so were a lot of, well judges and they tend not to be young thirty-somethings.
so there are some very influential people pissed off with MCD.
Having said that, I don't think things went well for Ms. S in the rest of Europe either
