The Immediate split? *update*

As first reported on this blog, The Immediate have split. A message on their MySpace reads:

Saturday, May 12, 2007

The Immediate is no more xx

We're sad to announce that The Immediate is splitting up due to existential differences.

We'd like to thank everyone who came to our shows and listened to 'In Towers & Clouds', everyone who loved or hated us, as well as anyone who helped us along the way... It's been a blast. Thankyou, sincerely.

We all still love each other.
Regularly.

Thankyou and goodnight,
much love xx
Conor, Dave, Pete, Barra

Rumours are circulating this morning that Dublin Choice Music Prize nominees and authors of one of 2006's most acclaimed Irish records - 'In Towers And Clouds' - The Immediate, have called it a day following their Trinity Ball performance last night. This has NOT as yet been confirmed by the band, although I have been in touch to get to the bottom of it.

More information as I get it. But as of now, it's just a (strong) rumour. If it is true, it's very sad news indeed. On the band's MySpace page an upcoming gig a the Great Escape festival in Brighton on May 18th is still listed.
